About

Hi! I’m Dawn, a thirty-something person from the gloomy South of England with way too much time on their hands.

This is a blog in which I write about all the video games that I manage to finish – what I liked, what I didn’t, etc. It’s not really a review blog persay because I don’t have any set structure for how I’m writing, I’m not covering every aspect of the game in-depth, and I most definitely am not giving out meaningless number scores at the end of each review…that’s a practice I wish that would be abandoned, because it completely obscures the point of a review and leads to some very aggravating articles and arguments about the supposed objective merit of certain video games. Amongst other things.

Truthfully I’ve always wanted to write video game reviews but I’ve never pursued it, and I’m not sure I have the time in any case (even assuming I have the capability, which I probably don’t, a professional writer I am not!) what with being too busy actually playing games in between working, drawing, and basic human functions that we all unfortunately have to do.

I thought it’d be nice to collect my thoughts about the games I’ve played as I finish them so maybe I’ll be able to look back on this in a few years and laugh. Or compare my experience to my previous experiences when I inevitably come around for a replay. From time to time I may write pieces about other things too. I’m not really writing for an audience persay – although if you’re reading this and keep reading, thank you for taking an interest! – but I may act as though I am every now and then. Because we all know the first sign of madness is talking to yourself!

My favourite games include Xenoblade Chronicles, Tales of Berseria, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, NieR, and Final Fantasy XII. Not necessarily in that order. Yeah, I like JRPGs. I’ll be writing about those on here a lot in all probability.

My least favourite games include Persona 4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Final Fantasy IX. Yes, I am aware those are all extremely popular games. Sometimes I am a very hard person to please, and I look for different things in video games when it comes to quality. Opinions are opinions, right?

With that said, please do bear that in mind if you happen to be reading my blog: this is just a small, personal space for me to air my thoughts and feelings about video games, and I’m not censoring myself. So you will probably read things you don’t agree with. I will probably contradict myself, and be unfair, and downright nasty. You definitely won’t agree with everything you read. But opinions are just opinions! You can just close the page and never open it again. I’m not going to yell at you. So don’t yell at me, OK?

That’s about it. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy your time here! Feel free to leave a comment on any entry if you like, I’d love to hear from you.
